Personification

The attribution of a personal nature or human characteristics to something nonhuman
The stars danced playfully in the moonlit sky
Personification is using a character to represent an abstract idea. Abstract ideas are hard for a lot of people to understand

Imagery

Visually descriptive or figurative language
My work is mainly inspired by old advertising imagery, naive drawings and textile design
Imagery creates a vivid image by playing on the senses

Simile

Simile is when you compare two nouns (persons, places or things) that are unlike, with "like" or "as."
Your teeth are like stars;
They come out at night.
They come back at dawn
When they’re ready to bite.
Good similes compare two very different nouns
